Feedback and Comments from our Visiting Golfers

When you step onto the 4th tee (yellow tees) you know you may struggle to get a Par 4. The hole plays as a Par 5 from the White tees only a few yards further back. This hole could be put onto any links in the world and in many cases would elevate that course further. The fairway cambers, dips and folds this way and that for all of its 446 yards, as you make your way towards the lighthouse. The green slopes from left to right, is a small target like most on the course and it is also angled in a way that is unfavourable to many approach shots onto the green. The greens here were also the fastest and most true of any course I played in the Highlands on my golf tour. A must play for any visiting golfer to the Highlands.

The course is fantastic to play and has the best greens to complement a true Scottish links golf course. I am told that even in the winter months, the course is in fantastic condition. This is one course a golf party or visiting golfers will need to include. Measuring at just 6100 yards might let you believe it is relatively easy but with fast greens, strategically placed bunkers and gorse on a number of holes this is by no means an easy task even for the lower handicap golfer. The signature hole (4th) is one which is spectacular and anyone walking off this hole with 4 on their card will be more than pleased with their efforts. We also saw the dolphins adjacent to the 4th green which just added to our enjoyment. Definitely not a course to be missed on any golf touring party's itinerary.

It's a James Braid classic not to be missed. The landscape is amazing and perfect for what is true links golf. The course has very well maintained fairways and greens. The 4th hole is unbelievable. You play it as a par 4 (from the yellow tees) down to the lighthouse but from the tee you can't see what is waiting for you. It is one of the most difficult holes in golf. A bogey here feels like a birdie and the course overall is great fun to play.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Links is unique in many ways. On both my visits I have marvelled at the extraordinary design (best seen in an aerial view of the course). The standout holes are the remarkably difficult 4th and the charming short par 3, 5th hole but this is a course that is fantastic to play on and a must for visiting golfers to the area. Oh, and did I mention seeing the dolphins cavorting in the firth next to the Lighthouse?

Having played them all, I think Fortrose & Rosemarkie compares very well with Brora, Tain and Golspie. Fortrose is another Braid designed classic with all the fun of links golf, some very challenging greens (better than the other courses mentioned), with a very reasonable green fee and a relaxed and friendly welcome - what more could you want! _______________________________________________________________________________

I think the 4th hole is one of the finest in Scottish golf, it's a real tough one to play so early in the round and its followed by a wee gem of a short hole. This is a course which is well worth playing if you are in the area visiting other Championship courses such as Royal Dornoch and Nairn. _______________________________________________________________________________

The course is an absolute gem and it is always on my list of courses to visit when I am in the Highlands. The 4th hole would not be out of place on any of the worlds great links golf courses. A must visit for anyone playing golf in the Highlands.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Course is a strategic test where pinpoint accuracy both off the tee and approaching the greens is paramount. The views are wonderful. This is a course well worth including on your golfing itinerary and gives value for money.

The 4th is a wonderfully treacherous golfing hole and when you finally arrive at the green, your golfing abilities are tested even further. A course you must play for anyone coming to the area on a golfing trip or holiday.
